So close that they may at once overlie to the brink of virtue, a value only attained by strife and fortitude.
We've forgotten the ethics of others so that we may live our way, a way that causes underlying deterrents that we have buried along with our souls. But why, what have we gained? Knowledge? Supremacy? The answer depends on the conditions rather than the person. That is, after all, the way it's meant to be.
Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves - regret for the past and fear of the future."
Many say we fear the future for fear of the unknowing. I respectively disagree. Our apprehension for the future comes from knowing.
We know exactly what will happen, our ignorance will heighten and our awareness will lose its will to live.
I'd say our fear is warranted if not absolutely necessary.
You can't live without fear.
Fear causes reaction, reactions cause change, change (for better or worse) is essential. Fear in these terms does not mean panic. Panic by all means is a reaction of desperation.
We as humans are not desperate, just in dire need of our awakening
There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in."
We are never as understanding and aware as when we are children. We know nothing of the outside world therefore we have nothing to fear, only knowledge to gain. Yet as we grow older we see everything, or at least everything we're meant to see and we take our tolls. We do not become desensitized, because desensitizing does not exist.
We are our own enemies in blissful idiocy.
If the terms were to change and we were to make 'the world a better place' not for others, not for our children or future generations, but for ourselves we would start to see a revolution. This is not on my judgement alone but from solid proof of years past...

This stood out to me the most from what you wrote. Well put, indeed. I have to say, that's officially one of my favorite quotes.
